Budgeting your Trip
Maui is full of fun activities, but most if not all can drain your budget quickly. Your budget will generally depend on how many people are in your party, and what type of activities you are interested in. Some of the best activities in Maui are free, or very cheep. Snorkeling, sun bathing, beach exploring, and hiking are all activities that you should definitely do while in Maui.
If you will be staying for more than a few days then you will probably want to spend some time doing other fun activities. Plan to spend anywhere from $50-$100 per person for most activities on Maui. Some more expensive all day trips, or helicopter rides can cost upwards of a few hundred dollars per person.
Eating on Maui can also be expensive. Expect to pay around $10-20 per person for lunch and $20-30 per person on dinner. There are fast food restaurants on Maui, but most are only accessible by car. One of the best options is to rent a condo, and make your own meals. Most condo's have kitchens, and also have access to a barbeque. You would be surprised at how much money you can save when you choose this option.
The average traveler to Hawaii stays 5 days. If you have never been, plan on having around $100 per day per person for fun activities and meals. This does not include your hotel, car, or air transportation. This is a moderate budget, but will ensure that you will have fun and enjoy your trip.
