Maui Volcanoes

Although Maui doesn't have any active volcanoes, that doesn't mean that you can't see some fresh lava flow on your trip! The big island of Hawaii is a short plane or helicopter ride away from Maui, and is a great trip for the adventurous traveler. There are a few helicopter tours that will take you from Maui all the way to the big island to see a volcano erupting!

For those of us who like our volcanoes to look like mountains and not pose a threat to our lives, then we recommend Maui's own Haleakala. A short 45 minute drive from the base to the top will take you to Haleakala National Park. There is camping, hiking, and site seeing available at the top. You can also ride a bicycle all the way down to the ocean
